Summer Camp at Mountain Road is led by gifted educators committed to holding a container that balances structure and freedom. Roaming the beautiful 20 acres of fields and forest on our historic campus, each day brings new adventures. Immersed in nature, the intrinsic curiosity and creativity of our campers emerge. Their inquiry and free play guide the journey each week, connecting to the earth and each other. Camp at Mountain Road is everything Summer should be.
Read below about why experts in executive function and emotional regulation agree that open-ended play is the right kind of summer for children:
Heron Camp age 6-12
Campers will splash around in the Kinderhook Creek, climb trees, forage for wild edibles and develop the art of fort building. Weekly themes emerge from the curiosity of the group around creatures, fire, trees, shelter, water, storytelling and the beauty of the forest. Campers are sure to encounter more than one whimsical character of the forest over the Summer!
