The Board of Directors is committed to the goal of making a private school education at Mountain Road affordable to as many families as possible. While striving to increase the economic diversity in our community, we must also ensure adequate income to pay teachers and expenses. The majority of the school’s income is from tuition, with 10% or so from fundraising and grants. Therefore, the amount of financial aid available depends on enrollment. Awards are determined by the Mountain Road Board Finance Committee and approved by the Board of Directors.
The application process begins with an online account through TADS, a service that handles Financial Aid Forms. The TADS website follows: Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS). If you have received financial aid from MRS before, you will already have a TADS account and can log in to begin your new application. If this is your first time applying, you will need to create an account. You will also need to complete a Request for Financial Aid form which helps the Finance Committee determine awards. A Financial Aid checklist is provided for your convenience.
Financial Aid applications must be received by April 1.
Incomplete applications or those received after the April 1 deadline, will delay the review process and can affect the amount of aid offered. Financial aid applications and awards are made on an annual basis. An award in one year does not guarantee an award in subsequent years. Generally, financial aid awards will not exceed 40% of tuition.
In order to be considered for Tuition Assistance, you must submit your most recent tax return to TADS, a confidential and impartial organization that works with many independent schools TADS confidentially and impartially analyzes the information provided and recommends a tuition adjustment for applying families. TADS processes the financial statements of 250,000 families each year and more than 550 colleges and independent schools use their services. In the case of separation, divorce, or parents who were never married, both parents are required to complete the TADS process for their child to be considered for tuition assistance. All information is kept in the strictest confidence.
Multi-child families – A multi-child tuition discount of 5% for second and subsequent children in the same family is available, however the total amount of aid will not exceed 50% of the total tuition.
Special financial arrangements for paying tuition are possible. Written requests may be sent to the Director. They are then reviewed by the Board Finance Committee and approved by the Board of Directors.
