Admission to Mountain Road School is open to all.  We actively promote diversity in all aspects of our community. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, disability, religion, national or ethnic origin.  We strive to maintain small class sizes and  priority is given to returning students.

New students may be admitted at any time during the school year, though it is preferable for students to be enrolled in September.  Children entering our preschool program must be at least three years old and out of diapers.  Age exceptions for children close to three may be granted at the discretion of the director and teacher.

Before-School Care is offered (beginning September 2016) from 7:15 until 8:15 AM when the school day begins.  The fee for this service ($600 per child for the full year) can be added to your tuition payments.

Aftercare is also offered Monday through Friday until 5:30 PM.  The fee for this service (depending on usage) can also be added to your tuition payments.  More information is on your TADS account, explained in greater detail on the Tuition page.  Please contact the school for more information.

Admissions Checklist

  • The admission process begins with a parent visit. Parents can attend an Open House or schedule a private visit by calling the school at 518-794-8520 or
  • Interested families then submit an application, required forms and a non-refundable application fee of $50.  Checks are made payable to Mountain Road School.
  • The next step is for your child(ren) to visit the school. Call the office to schedule the visit.  Preschool children spend one hour in a classroom with parents close by. Kindergarten children visit for a half day and children grades 1-8 visit for a full school day.
  • You will submit a Records Release to your child’s current school.  This authorizes them to send us copies of progress reports and school records.   A Recommendation Form from your child’s current teacher is also required.

Once all admission elements are completed (parent visit, application, fee, child visit, records, recommendation), the school will consider the application and notify parents of its decision
