o provide children with the space and place to continue their quest for knowledge, understanding, and discovery, Mountain Road School needs your help. Like all independent schools, Mountain Road School depends on the generosity of current and past parents, grandparents, alumni, school employees, and friends of the school for financial support. One way to show your support for MRS and its mission is to make a tax-deductible annual contribution to the Annual Appeal.
MRS’s Annual Appeal Fund bridges the gap between what the school raises in tuition and what it actually costs to educate our students. Tuition revenues cover approximately 85 percent of the cost of education. If the school only relied on tuition and did not do fundraising, tuition would actually be several thousands of dollars more, putting the cost of a MRS education beyond the means for many qualified and deserving applicants.
Gifts to the Annual Appeal Fund cover such expenses as:
- Computer and technology enhancements
- Field Trips
- Books and supplies
- Musical instruments
- Art supplies
- Nature studies
- Professional development for faculty
- Fuel oil
- Unexpected costs that arise in the course of operating a school year

Gifts of Stock
With a gift of appreciated securities instead of cash, you can qualify for a tax-deduction based on the fair market value of the stock if you have held it for a year or more. Matching Gifts
Companies will often match or multiply gifts made by employees and retirees. Please keep this in mind when you make a gift to MRS and consult with your employer’s personnel department to find out whether your employer offers a Matching Gifts program.
